BRIEF BIO

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Nathan Dollschnieder practiced a wide variety of art forms growing up. This variety in practice helps to inform Nathan's current work; most of which is made in Baltimore, where Nathan majors in painting at The Maryland Institute College of Art.

CURRENT STATEMENT

Working through shaped canvas and sculpted objects I am proposing shape and color relationships dictated by both geometric and organic boundaries. The subject of “what makes a painting” often arrises while viewing this work as the objects and shaped canvases are relative to one another.I am exploring the connotation and context that these relationships have within the arena of objectivity, importance, basic appeal and academic theory.
